Interest Areas

Agricultural field crop growth and response, environmental, and plant pest issues in west central Minnesota; varietal development, soil fertility.

We provide support for on-center and off-center investigators research pest issues.

Current Research

Current soybean research is investigating plant populations and varietal influences on white mold, cropping system influences on soybean cyst nematode, and determining the effectiveness of using stacked defensive traits in managing SCN, root rot, and iron deficiency chlorosis.  Corn research is centered around phosphorus management with studies on corn response to phosphorus on medium P testing soils, tillage system/phosphorus interactions, and phosphorus losses with manure and tillage system.  WCROC provides field research plot support for soybean, potato, wheat, oats, and barley varietal development programs and corn, soybeans, and wheat, weed management studies.  Corn performance and maturity trials are conducted in central and northern maturity locations.
