New auditorium at WCROC will be named in honor of AgCountry 4/23/2009 8:00 AMGround was broken Thursday for the auditorium, which is part of a $3.3 million renovation at the research and outreach center and regional extension office. The project includes major office renovations as well as a new 5,260-square-foot addition that includes the auditorium, which will seat up to 220 people theatre-style and 110 people in seminar and classroom settings.
The new research and outreach center and Extension office will be a demonstration and research platform for renewable energy and green building technologies along with our current research programs in dairy, swine, ag and hort crop systems and several extension programming areas says Jerry Wright, interim head of the research center. “This will further enhance our efforts in this emerging field. We not only want to be a leader in renewable and green research, but also want to lead by example."
AgCountry has a long-term working relationship with the center, the company said in a statement, and is particularly interested in enhancing its agricultural and renewable energy research. The two organizations have joint interests in helping agricultural producers be even more successful, rural communities respond to the changing landscape, promoting agriculture as an industry and as a career choice for youth, and in finding alternatives for protecting the rural environment.
AgCountry is an independently owned and locally governed lending institution that provides credit and financial services to more than 12,000 farmers and ranchers in 18 counties in eastern North Dakota and 25 counties in northwest and west central Minnesota.
WCROC is a unit of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences located on the St Paul Campus and a regional office for the University of Minnesota Extension
