The WCROC is part of the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, and is celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2010 -- providing a tradition of excellence in applied agricultural research and education for farmers and rural communities in crop production, animal sciences, horticulture, water quality, organic dairy, and renewable energy.  The

Provide leadership in the generation and dissemination of research-based knowledge that addresses agricultural and rural issues.

 

   

WCROC Named Outstanding Conservationist for 2011

The West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC) in Morris was named Outstanding Conservationist for 2011 by the Stevens County Soil and Water Conservation District. This recognition was based on the ROC's research and educational programs in horticulture, water quality, renewable energy, dairy, swine, and crop production. The WCROC received the award at the annual convention of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Read more about it in the Fall 2011 issue of SWCD Conservation News.

 


 2012 Top Ten Performing Annuals appear in The SCOOP

(The SCOOP is the official publication of the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association)
 
Annual flower variety trials for the University of Minnesota are conducted at the Horticulture Display Garden. As part of the evaluation criteria, cultivars are rated based on their unique characteristics, exceptional performance, color, and vigor under regional conditions. Of the hundreds of trialed cultivars, the Top Ten are those that received the highest rating.
 

The much anticipated annual flower trial report is requested often and is provided to many organizations including nursery and landscape professionals, floriculture educators, and gardening publications, such as The SCOOP (a publication of the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association).
