Commissioning of the WCROC Fast Charging Station

April 20, 2018

Mark your calendars for the public commissioning of our DC Fast Charging Station at the West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC).  All are invited to attend.

Our 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV (electric vehicle) will be on hand for demonstrations and ride-alongs.  Refreshments will also be served.

Background Info

As more and more electric cars move about the country, the need for charging stations - particularly fast charging stations - continues to grow.  The WCROC, Morris, recently installed a DC Fast Charging Station (DCFC); this means an electric car can charge 6.5 times faster than at a level 2 charger.  Our Chevrolet Bolt EV can charge in under an hour with a DCFC, versus 6 hours on a level 2 charger.  The same charge would take more than 2 days in a standard 110 volt outlet.

The WCROC is currently the only DCFC station in west central Minnesota.  Consumers may plug in their electric vehicles free of charge.

Funding for the Fast Charging Station provided by Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund.
