What's Happening to our Evergreen Trees?
While we all love evergreens for their year-round beauty and value as windbreaks, they really do not return the love.
Western Minnesota is not the ideal environment for many evergreens and they show it! This presentation will cover the major challenges with growing arborvitae, douglas-firs, junipers, pines, and spruce in our climate and soils and which ones are best up to the challenge.
Presented by John Ball, Professor of Forestry at South Dakota State University where he also serves as the Extension Forestry Specialist and the state’s Forest Health Specialist.
This workshop is part of the Come Grow with Us horticulture education series. Classes are free to attend, and open to the public.
